Headline Worthy

The very positive news about Cebu (below) should have been splashed as headline on the front page of Sunstar Daily and not relegated to the pages for minor local news.... Hayy...

Gwen impresses investors
By Jeanette P. Malinao
Sun.Star Staff Reporter

HONG KONG - Investors from 36 countries, most of whom admitted they had not heard of Cebu before, expressed interest in spending money for projects or company expansion after hearing Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia speak in yesterday’s Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Congress.

Quotes from impressed investors...
"She spoke with no fuss, no dull promises and people positively responded. That is a fact. Others talked with unnecessary facts but not being able to impress people and give confidence but everyone was thoroughly impressed with her." - Sudhir Kumar, resident commissioner of the Indian state of Karanataka

"To be frank, when we scan the region, the Philippines is not a priority for us, unfortunately. But after this, we will now consider Cebu as one of our primary focus." - Tan See Yin of United Engineers of Malaysia

  1. Wow Linnor, that's like bringing the world to your doorstep! Imagine what that would do for Cebu and the Philippines as well. I hope good and definite things really come out of this. That is long overdue. :)

  2. HI JET!
I share your views. It's high time Cebu or the Philippines gets noticed again by investors and other forces that could shape a bright future for the next generations. The newspapers should drumbeat these kinds of positive news more than what is presently hogging the headlines - mud-slinging or witch-hunting in government. ;)

Congrats to Batjay! I hope you're also planning to publish your great entries.
