Ratatouille

1. Ratatouille - n. A vegetable stew, usually made with eggplant, tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, and onions, seasoned with herbs and garlic

2. Ratatouille - "It is about a rat that wants to be a fine chef in a top French restaurant in Paris. It is a wonderful story about following your passions when all the world is against you. A rat to a kitchen is death; a kitchen to a rat is death."

3. To Jake, Ratatouille is the very 1st movie he has seen in a movie theater (last full screening 920 pm). I was certainly surprised at him and half expected him to fall asleep midway through. Hihihi.... I guess it was funny enough to make him sit the entire (2 hrs) time. I hope he remembers his first foray into movie watching... even after many years.

Thumbs-up from Jake after seeing his first ever movie!

How about you? What's the very first movie you ever saw in a movie theater?

Last July 15, I had folks from Manila, Bicol, Bohol, and US flying over to Cebu for the week-long company (new one, will relay in another post) kick-off meeting. What's a better way to cap a day of introductions and planning than to have wine and cheese at Tinder Box?

Yup...and consumed several bottles of white, blush, red and shiraz wine, we did.

Cheers to an exciting new company!

How does a new 14 year old lad celebrate his birthday with friends?

a) watch a movie (Simpson's)
b) internet gaming sessions (@ EGG)
c) eat-all-you-can dinner (@ Kublai Khan's)

In Matt's case, you guessed it right, it was all of the above. :D

Blogging Constipation

Let me share the latest pic in my memory stick... This was taken yesterday at the NAIA as we were about to board the Mla-Cbu flight. In pic with me and Jake are my 2 second-degree cousins and my paternal aunt. Ma is on my right.

Have you ever found yourself with so much to write about and so little time to do it?

That's where I find myself now.... Hehehe...

Breakaway

Jake wasn't too behaved on his 2nd day. He probably thinks of his classroom as a play room and his classmates as his new playmates. I guess he still needs time to adjust being with a bunch of kids in a school set-up where he cannot just do what he wants because there are simple rules to follow.

While they were doing an activity (walking in line around the room while singing a train song), that gave him and some of his classmates a chance to break away from the group... Trust him to be part of that splinter group jumping, laughing, running around, going under or over tables and just being plain "pasaway".

I almost barged back inside the classroom to tell him off. Haay...

First Day High

ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL...
On the way to school
The weather was gloomy but not enough to dampen Jake's excitement over attending his Nursery 1 class for the very first time!

EAGER BEAVER
Eager beaver...
Jake stood up as he watched Teacher Maggie use a sponge to paint a strawberry picture... He couldn't wait to get his hands on that sponge.
---

COLOR SHAVINGS
Color shavings...
Jake enjoyed putting green color shavings on his strawberry picture...
---

JAKE'S TURN
Jake's turn
Jake volunteered himself for this activity. Teacher Maggie painted Jake's hands with yellow poster paint while a very curious classmate looked on.
---

MOST AWAITED
Most awaited...
Snack time of course! That's not Jake's Jollibee soda. He brought hotdog roll and Yakult for his snacks today.
---

BEING HELPFUL
Being helpful...
A classmate accidentally spilled his Yanyan snack on the floor. Jake was quick to assist the teacher aide pick up the pieces... Aw...

FAMILY AFFAIR
Family affair
It wasn't just moi, (from left) Jerry, Kyle and Matt were there too.
---

For his first day, he visibly had fun singing songs, dancing, coloring a picture using a sponge and some color shavings, having his hands painted yellow and printed on paper, checking out the toys and wall decor in the room and making new friends with his classmates. Looking at him all independent in there made me one proud momma.

And of all the things I saw Jake do this morning (though some of them were annoying...but that's another story), I was mighty proud to see him eat his healthy snack... Much to my relief, he didn't get envious (what's a milder word?) at the sodas and french fries that he saw around.

After school, as I was leading him out of the door to meet his Pa and elder brothers...

ME: Did you have fun today?
JAKE: Yes! I'll go to school again later!
ME: Hehehe... You'll go to school again tomorrow.
