Summer 2007 - Trip #1 (La Luz, Batangas)

It was a last minute decision when I chose to buy the Cebu Pacific tickets for me and my boys for a trip to Manila. We planned to join the company outing at La Luz in San Juan, Batangas. I thought, this was a good opportunity for the boys to see other places.

By bus, it took us more than 3 hours to get to our destination due to the accident at the South Superhighway. Otherwise, it would have only taken us about 2.5 hours from Ortigas.

La Luz may not be a class A resort like the Shangrila Mactan or Plantation Bay (both in Cebu) but it has its own charm that quite impressed me. It's sand is not white but the shore is a long stretch of gleaming (almost white) shoreline. The sand may be coarse (wearing aqua shoes is advisable) but the water is amazingly clear. There are no 5 star facilities but the delicious home-cooked meals and well-kept surroundings compensate for what it lacks.

The bamboo cottages swathed in white drapes give it a tropical appeal. One could request for Batangas coffee (barako) during meal time. At night, the dining area is lit with candles, the native "sulo" or a bonfire. To complete the relaxed atmosphere, chill-out music played audibly in the background.

If you are planning to head to the beach this summer, La Luz is a good option. Check out their official site here...

  2. Jake is always a happy camper...be it in Batangas or in Cebu...the skies are indeed blue and the waters are less wavy...great time to dive, but where are the office mates?

  3. La Luz sounds impressive but the super white and prisine beaches and blue waters of General Luna town of Siargao Island is beyond compare. In fact, Boracay is only a poor second, if you want to make a contrastive analysis between the two.

How I wish your next Company outing be held in that beautiful town of Surigao del Norte. This is one way of promoting your Mamarazzi's beloved town where the best surfing area of the country is found and patronized by foreign tourists/surfers.

I don't know how to swim din... Hehehe...

    HI JUNNIE!
I purposely chose the pictures of family lang. The pictures of officemates will be posted to my other flickr account.

Ganda ng blue skies and waters no?

    HI PAPARAZZI!
Nothing beats our Siargao beach lot (which now belongs to Junnie)... It has the perfect white and fine sand, with the shoreline stretching out to Mama Sol's property... Boracay doesn't even come close to it. I hope we all get to go together. Maybe Junnie should start making the cottages/resthouses. Hehehe...

  8. [...] When the Manila office went to La Luz, Batangas for their company outing, Cebu decided to go to quiet Bohol for an overnight trip. Except for a few, all of us hauled ourselves to the pier early Saturday morning of April 14 for a Supercat trip that would take us to Tagbilaran. [...]
