High and Low

Tuesday, November 22, 2005

Jerry and I were on our way to the bank at the Cebu Business Park when we saw at a distance, a tall column of black smoke. We tuned in to the AM radio where frantic news accounts were being aired about the fire that apparently broke in Mabolo. We were no where near the area but we could see the intensity of the the fire from where we were parked. The pics are mine but the write-up below was swiped from SunStar Cebu Daily's account of what happened....

Two fires broke out in Cebu City yesterday, bringing to eight the number of fires this month.

Some P600,000 worth of property was lost in the fire that struck Sitio Sindulan, Barangay Mabolo at 1:21 p.m.

No one was reported hurt, but 71 houses were razed and 105 families were left homeless.

Two hours earlier, the cargo hold of a passenger ship caught fire while it was docked at Pier 2 yesterday morning. Damage was pegged at P5,000.

It must have been really sad for the families who lost their homes and property but the good thing is nobody was hurt.

There's No Stopping Christmas

After work today, I saw the first time Asia Town turned on the newly-installed tivoli lights that adorned the trees that lined the avenue. A happy feeling overcame me and I couldn't help but smile and hurriedly snap a blurry pic right before I boarded the car... As the song goes: "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..."
