Shining Moment
It's hard to actually put in words what I felt as I stood in the school gym this morning listening and singing along with the choir during the mass. Jerry, looking cool and composed, was standing next to me. Hmm, yeah, I could only guess what he was feeling as well.
During moments like this, I turn to mush. I struggle as I keep the tears from rolling down my cheeks. And without sounding too emo about it, my throat really ached. Sigh...
It was the culmination of our sons' academic hard work for schoolyear 2004-2005. Together with other deserving students, they were awarded their gold medals this morning.
And as what Fr. Javier, the Grade School Principal said, it was a fitting close to the past schoolyear and an inspiring opening for the new one.
Great job Matt and Kyle! We love you! And we're SOOO proud of you!
(Now I sound mayabang na. Hehehe)

Caring for our kids is one area that we are totally devoted to and successful in! God has shown us the way by being an omnipresent and ever loving Father to us all!
ReplyDeleteThe best part of life is being with your family! :)
The three kings offered the baby Jesus, Gold, Myrrh and Frankincense. The same way, Kyle and Matthew can offer their 2 Golds back to Him - the Giver of all Good things!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the parents. But of course the hardwork was with the 2 bugoys!
It must be the shoes! :)
congrats to kyle and matthew! and of course, you and your hubby deserves a pat on the back, too! what a great weekend it is for you!
ReplyDeleteHI JERRY!
ReplyDeleteI give all the credit to you for being the boys' mentor and icon whom they look up to. For the past year, as I doted on little Jake and took the night shift caring for him, you ably guided the elder boys in their studies and steered them to achieve their academic and athletic goals. Those gold medals are a fitting tribute for all your hard work as well. You are such a wonderful Papa to the boys!
Advance Happy Dads' day Jerky! Mwa-mwa!
HI JUNNIE!
Rightly said! And, oh, that's true. It was partly because of the Nike shoes that you advanced as their reward plus the PS2 that I promised them I'd buy if they get gold medals. I guess I have to make good that promise now, huh? :)
HI TIN!
It was a good way to start the schoolyear. Now, they have another 10 months to get down and do some serious school work to maintain their good records. :) Thanks!
Studying with the kids was a lot of fun and it was a great learning experience as well...esp in Science & History! Not that I am judging anyone but it's a great opportunity loss for parents who pass on the task of studying with their kids to tutors. I now know how my Mom felt everytime I got a medal in school :)!
ReplyDeleteEven if this thing-- receiving gold medals every grading period from their prep and every end of academic year-- is getting to be a wholesome HABIT, Mamarazzi and I could not be more proud, happier and more grateful to the Lord that Matt and Kyle have maintained such academic excellence. Truly, God is Good and God is Great!
ReplyDeleteMoreover, this early you should always impress upon your kids (as we did to you, Junnie and May), that one's SUCCESS or FAILURE in life could be traced to the OBEYING or the BREAKING of the 4th Commandment--Honor Your Father And Your Mother.
Btw, have you built a Hall of Fame complete with cabinets where you could display the kids' medals of academic excellence intended for keeps and for posterity? It's about time!
And now for their cash awards, will you please send to me again by text your BPI-ATM so I could deposit a PITTANCE to the Matt & Kyle Foundation savings account? And as ever, am not kidding! :) :) :)
proud poppa and momma,
ReplyDeletecongratulations to all of you, the gold medals are obviously a result of great team work! keep it up! :D
congrats linnor! you must be very very proud! i know i would be if that's my kid... anyway, kids are reflection of their "great" parents. Cheers to you and Jerry!
ReplyDeleteHI JERRY!
ReplyDeleteNow that Jake is a bit bigger and is easier to handle, I'm going back to helping the bugoys with their school assignments. It gives me that feeling of satisfaction when I'm able to contribute a bit to their achievements. Parang ako din ang may award. Hahaha!
HI PAPARAZZI!
Thanks! Those were very insightful tips from you. I thought you were going to tease me about being too strict with the boys. Let me assure you though that gone are the days of "hair-pulling" threats. The kids have already established good study habits and they don't need to be dragged to the finish line, so to speak. Plus, some credit go to you too for the good genes. I'll text you my BPI atm acct number asap. :P
HI ANNABANANA AND JO!
Thanks a lot! It's been 2 days and I'm still beaming with pride! :D
Now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside too! Congratulations to Matt and Kyle. As we all went to school...we know how much hard work you put into homeworks etc. and you deserve the gold! I wish a got gold. I am more the bronze, silver type...and always #2. :(. Wonderful parents. Happy father's day to Jerry and Paparazzi. Paparazzi, can I text you my ATM account too? Haha, kidding.
ReplyDeletewow! congratulations to kyle and matt. of course, kudos to you and jerry for raising wonderful, smart kids. :)
ReplyDeleteoh and happy father's day to yours :)
HI THE OTHER JO!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Though I consistently belonged to the honors' class, I was just an innocent bystander in my younger days. Back then I never got my share of medals. Boo. Hahaha! Jerry did. My brother Junnie did too. So that probably tells you where most of the genes came from. Hehehe.
HI DENDEN!
Thanks! :D
congrats to you and your husband, and to your 2 kids as well! i have a long way to go, and though I don't want to pressure my kid, i sure will be happy to see her succeed academically too!!!
ReplyDeleteHI JOJO!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Though it takes quite an effort, I'm sure you'll be happy when it's your kid's time to reap academic achievements. ;)
Congratulations to Matt and Kyle...Hope Zia grows up to be as intelligent as her kuyas. Share your secrets ha when Zia goes to school na.
