Pizza, PAL & Pambansang Awit

Jerry and I are trying to establish a pattern of eating out every Friday since I started working again. Today was no exception. This time, we tried La Tegola at Mactan, an Italian restaurant where we shared a plate of seafood pasta (marinara) and bruschetta.

For an Italian restaurant, La Tegola’s pizza wasn’t all that expensive. Our total food bill just amounted to about P300 without drinks.

Now try buying pizza for the same price at Pizza Hut, Greenwich or Shakey’s and I’ll say it’s not even half as good as what we had. Wanna bet?

Sunday, June 5

I flew to Manila this afternoon for a week of training at our company's Paranaque head office. It's been a long time since I went on an official trip and I was quite hesitant to leave my boys, especially Jake, who was still taking his antibiotic for loose BM. But this was something I had to do. Boo. I left after making sure that Jake was a little better and not after Jerry assured me everything would be fine.

Monday, June 6

Today was the 1st day of orientation for new hires. Even if I got on board last May 16, I still had to attend this mandatory course/training like the rest. There were about 50 attendees from the different companies under the group.

There were interesting facts about the company that I learned. And I keep learning about new things and the company's culture as each day at work unravels. With what has been said about the group so far, I think it's safe to say I'm in good hands.

  1. Am glad that Mr. Bert Lina, owner of Air 21 and the others of the Lina Group of Companies, has impressed upon his employees LOVE OF COUNTRY, or patriotism, the fast vanishing kind of character trait among Filipinos.

    I understand the multi millionaire businessman is also encouraging charity, unity and fraternity among all his wards. Haven’t your co-employees thought they have a saint for a big boss?

    Maybe this could be the reason PGMA appointed him the new Customs Commissioner. Am sure you will feel at ease and enjoy your work as its Corporate Service Manager. Congrats!

    hmmmm....the pizza and pasta sauce is any better than the ones you took in Rome, Venice, Florence and Pisa? aber?

  4. JUNNIE: The pizza & pasta in La Tegola I would say was better than the one we had in Italy :) Coz this was hot...the one's we had there were usually cold na. However, the ambience in Italy is breathtaking! A must see again place!

  5. Hi Nok! Mouthwatering post...I even included the La Tegola pizza in the list of food adventures for Christine. The boys are doing ok...Jake is recovering na, Kyle's yayay is hopefully getting better, Matts is still eating all our food and I'm looking forward to seeing you on Friday!

    Yes, I'm in Manila after almost 10 months since my last visit. The last one was before you and Mitzi migrated to Canada remember? Time really flew by no, and so many things have happened since then.

    I agree with Jerry, the food we had in Italy was authentic but was lacking in that flavor we Filipinos are used to. Tapos mahal pa. Hehehe... I remember how horrible I felt after eating a cold plate of risotto. Was it supposed to be that cold, oily and bland? Baka nataon lang. Hehehe... :P

  15. That appetizer looked yummy. The texture looks like it would be similar to Indian papadam. Am I right?

    The pizza looked good too, but I got hyper-acidity just looking at all that sauce. For some reason, I am very sensitive when it comes to tomato sauce, which gives me an acid feeling in my stomach, as well as makes me belch a lot.

    It was a different experience being there to hear the employees sing the Pambansang Awit and recite the Pledge.

    It was a long drive to Subic with Jerry but we did a lot of sightseeing on top of the official hub tour I was scheduled to have. Then off to Clark we went where we checked out the duty free shops. Hehe... No we didn't splurge. We just bought a few shirts for Matt and Kyle for USD1.00 and USD.59 a piece. Steal huh?! :D

    It's made of flour tortilla. Is that what an Indian papadam is made of? I'm prone to hyper-acidity too but surprisingly, I didn't have an attack even if I finished off 2 huge slices! :P
