I went with the boys to school this morning to get their report cards. They both got a general average of 94 (if I'm not mistaken about Matt's). Prior to today, Matt and I had a deal that if he gets back to the top 10 of his honors' class, I'd give him my Sony Ericsson W800i. He slipped out of the top 10 because of his Math grades. Though his previous quarters' average grades were high, he didn't meet the minimum grade requirement for 1st honor, thus sliding him out of the roster.

Today, while handing the report card, Brother Jeff gave the good news that Matt managed to pull himself up to the top 10 again.

That means I'm now shopping for a new cellphone... Hehehe...

As we walked to the tables where the class advisers were, I heard one of Matt's teachers ask if I was his sister...

Ahem... hehehe.... I was suddenly roused back to my senses when Matt's Chinese teacher exclaimed: "Classmate ko yan no!". Ngek.

Summer 2007 - Trip #1 (La Luz, Batangas)

It was a last minute decision when I chose to buy the Cebu Pacific tickets for me and my boys for a trip to Manila. We planned to join the company outing at La Luz in San Juan, Batangas. I thought, this was a good opportunity for the boys to see other places.

By bus, it took us more than 3 hours to get to our destination due to the accident at the South Superhighway. Otherwise, it would have only taken us about 2.5 hours from Ortigas.

La Luz may not be a class A resort like the Shangrila Mactan or Plantation Bay (both in Cebu) but it has its own charm that quite impressed me. It's sand is not white but the shore is a long stretch of gleaming (almost white) shoreline. The sand may be coarse (wearing aqua shoes is advisable) but the water is amazingly clear. There are no 5 star facilities but the delicious home-cooked meals and well-kept surroundings compensate for what it lacks.

The bamboo cottages swathed in white drapes give it a tropical appeal. One could request for Batangas coffee (barako) during meal time. At night, the dining area is lit with candles, the native "sulo" or a bonfire. To complete the relaxed atmosphere, chill-out music played audibly in the background.

If you are planning to head to the beach this summer, La Luz is a good option. Check out their official site here...

The Other (Young) Man

I have become quite accustomed to the routine of having Jerry fly in and out of Cebu every week. So far, except for some major decision-making activities, the affairs at home and at work are manageable to handle by my lonesome.

However, spending nights alone is a different story.... I can't stand having nobody to snuggle up to, not being able to feel somebody close by, to smell his skin, to hold his hand and to stroke his hair... After much thought, I allowed it to happen.

I now let Jake take over the space which is practically Jerry's half of the bed.

Problem is, we're finding it hard to wean him out of it even when Jerry's around. :P

I am on a roll doing 2 posts in less than 24 hours today. Though my trusty Redford is with me, I'm not about to do any kind of work this weekend. Its 1 am, my boys are asleep here at Malayan Hotel. Tomorrow, at 630 am, we'll join the company outing at Batangas. So far so good. I am definitely enjoying the first day of my mini-vacation.

Happy weekend!

Bellarmine-Farewell Party

Happy to be around each other...
Hopeful to spend the next years together...

Even if not necessarily in the same honors' class...

Reinforcement

With Mafe at Rai Rai Ken

We hired about 16 devs last 2006. For this year, we need to grow to about 60 in Cebu. So far, we added 11 to the roster and pooling and screening are still ongoing. That's just about half-way our target. Time for some reinforcement to fast-track recruitment. Chris (Eng'g Mgr), Rox (HR Mgr) and Mafe (Training Mgr) have started visiting Cebu for this effort.

Hay salamat. We could use all the help we could get:D
